Listen to a recording of the service:

Claudine Jones Lafferty passed away January 28, 2016 at the age of 96 in the Latter Days Assisted Living Center in Santaquin, Utah of complications incident to age.

Claudine was the 10th of 11 children born to Calvin Sparks and Christina Elizabeth Peterson Jones in Salt Lake City, Utah where she was raised.  She married Watson LeRoy Lafferty June 6, 1940 in the Salt Lake LDS Temple.  Together they raised 8 children, Ron, Colleen (Calvin) Ewell, Kathleen (Sherwin) Thomas, Dan, Mark (Lanna), Tim (Teena), Watson Jr. (Keri) and Allen (Heidi).  Claudine has 60 grandchildren, 156 great grandchildren and 14 great-great grandchildren with 1 more on the way.

She attended South High School and Ex-cel-cis Beauty School graduating in 1937.  She worked as a cosmetologist for over 70 years making many life-long friends.

Claudine enjoyed a full life of active service in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.  She served faithfully as the Jr. Sunday School Coordinator, Relief Society President and many other callings including the secretary in her ward Young Women Presidency at age 84 and in the Relief Society Presidency in her 90's.  She also served a full time mission with her husband in Louisiana.  She loved temple work and served in the Provo temple for 13 years.

Claudine was a wonderful example of hard work.  She was an excellent cook and loved dishing up some “comfort food” for anyone that stopped by.  Her rice pudding and homemade bread were a special treat she loved to surprise neighbors and friends with.  She was an expert at making chocolates at Christmas time and spent hours preparing many pounds of her homemade delicacy to give to family and friends.  Most of all she cherished family get-togethers, eating good food, visiting and playing games.

As a family we honor her as a wonderful example of faith and endurance.  She is predeceased by her parents, all of her siblings, her husband of 43 years, a granddaughter, 2 great grandsons and 2 great granddaughters.

A special “Thank You” from her family to all her helpers at Latter Days Assisted Living and our sister Colleen, and her husband Calvin, for their gentle kindness in the care of mother.  We appreciate your patience and concern for her comfort.  Many “Thanks” also to her dear roommate Joy for her endless love and friendship.  Together they shared a very special relationship.  She truly loved you and your family.

Funeral services were held Monday, February 1, 2016 in the Genola, Utah 2nd Ward.
