Devan Bigler

July 18, 1965 — December 28, 2021

Devan Bigler passed away December 28, 2021 surrounded by his wife and kids after a massive stroke on Christmas morning. Devan was born July 18, 1965 to Dee Jay and Carol Bigler of Mapleton, Utah

Devan Started work for the Union Pacific Railroad in 1990, following in his dad’s footsteps who also worked for Union Pacific. Over his 30 plus years of employment with the Union Pacific Devan was able to advance his position to management where he traveled teaching safety. Many lasting friendships were created as a part of that.

Devan was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. He served a mission in the Lansing, Michigan area. His favorite calling was Scout Master. He loved all the adventures he went on with the scouts. He recalled his memories of them frequently.

Devan married his sweetheart Jeannett on March 2, 1990 in the Salt Lake Temple. Together they had four kids who kept life busy and exciting. Devan had a deep love of hunting and fishing. He spent much of his youth at Strawberry reservoir with his best friends Paul and Jon Phillips and their family. In the last five years Devan and Jeannett spent much of their time at Strawberry meeting people and making friends. He loved kokanee fishing and would talk to anyone about it. He shared his talent for fishing with his kids but especially his grandkids. Devan has also guided fishing trips and many hunts with Strawberry Bay Outfitters. Again, he loved sharing his deep love of the outdoors with others as well as his love for Strawberry and the Wasatch mountains.

Devan will be remembered for being a giant of a teddy bear with an even bigger smile, a loud laugh and a love for helping others. He has been able to help many people not only with his many talents but with his years of platelets and blood donations. He was also able to be a donor following his passing.

Devan is preceded in death by this brother-in-law Ken Palmer. He is survived by his wife Jeannett Bigler, his 4 kids Samantha (Wesley) Alexander, Heather Omandi, Kelly Bigler, Justin (Summer) Bigler, 8 grandkids, his parents Dee Jay and Carol Bigler, his siblings, Drew (Ashley) Bigler, Dirk (Stacie) Bigler, Dori Palmer, his in-laws Brent and Linda Console, Cameron Console, Josh (Mandy) Console, Shawn (Jessica) Console and many nieces and nephews.
