Albert Radell Hudson, 90, returned to his Heavenly Father on Tuesday, July 14, 2026, at his home, surrounded by his loving family.
Radell was born on August 8, 1935, in Santaquin, Utah, to Albert and Della Hudson. He was raised in Santaquin, where he helped his family care for their fruit orchard. As a boy, he loved experimenting with wires and gadgets and rigging his bedroom door to trigger a chain reaction whenever it was opened. His mother never quite knew what she would find when she opened the door.
He graduated from Payson High School, and then met the love of his life, Vonda Thatcher. They were married for time and all eternity in the Manti Utah Temple on May 5, 1954. Together they shared 72 years of marriage before Vonda's passing in May of this year. Their greatest joy was their family, and together they raised nine children.
Radell was a hardworking man who provided faithfully for his family throughout his life. He worked for Utah Power & Light as a lineman, helping clear brush along the power lines in Spanish Fork Canyon to reduce the risk of wildfires. He and his family spent a few years in Las Vegas before moving to Granger, Utah. He later owned and operated Hudson Electronics on State Street in Orem, where he repaired televisions, radios, and other electronics. He later went to work at Signetics, where he helped maintain the purified water systems used in manufacturing. When the plant closed, he took a job in New Hampshire running a water system there, before again returning to Utah.
Radell and his family spent many summers in Santaquin at the fruit orchard. They had a great time working together pruning, picking and harvesting apples. He taught his kids the value of a hard day's work. Radell and Vonda bought a 35 acre farm in Spring Lake, where Radell loved to spend time growing his crops and working in the peach orchard. He was happiest when hard at work.
Radell’s musical talents were a blessing to many. He played in a band as a young man and had a beautiful tenor voice. He especially loved his church calling as the Ward Organist for over 50 years. He also played the organ in the temple for many years.
Radell loved to hunt, fish and camp with his family, which instilled a great love for the outdoors in each of his children. Later in life he was able to own horses and enjoy them with his kids and grandkids.
Radell was preceded in death by his wife, Vonda; his daughters, Laurene Hudson and Lori Johansen; and his sons-in-law, Gregg Johansen and Jesse Rodriguez.
He is survived by his children: Michael (Ute) Hudson of Hillsboro, Oregon; Julie Rodriguez of Springville, Utah; Mark (Laura) Hudson of Perry, Utah; Margie (Dan) Hair of Orem, Utah; Kandra (Bart) Steinfeldt of Fairview, Utah; Ladd (Leslie) Hudson of Lindon, Utah; and Kayli Hudson of Henefer, Utah. He also leaves behind 36 grandchildren and 56 great-grandchildren, each of whom held a special place in his heart.
The family finds comfort in knowing that after only a short separation, Radell has been reunited with his beloved Vonda. His legacy of hard work, ingenuity, and devotion to his family will continue to live on in the lives of those who knew and loved him.
A viewing will be held on Monday, July 20, 2026, from 10:00 to 10:45 a.m. at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints chapel, 50 South 800 East, Orem, Utah. A memorial service will follow at 11:00 a.m. Interment will be at the Santaquin Cemetery.
