On Wednesday morning, November 15, 2023, heaven welcomed a celestial angel, Amy Spencer. Amy was born February 2, 1977 in Salt Lake City to Robert and Jadean Gillman Spencer. We knew right away that Amy was special. She was born deaf with a heart defect and special needs. Amy attended Jordan Valley School until her 21st birthday. She was actively involved in sports and participated in the Special Olympics in basketball, bowling, and track. Amy loved attending young women class on Sundays and earned her young women medallions which she wore proudly. Later in life, she looked forward to attending special needs mutual every week. Amy loved to go places, whether it was to the gas station to get her Dr. Pepper every morning or to her grandparent's house for a lunch date at Taco Amigo. She looked forward to traveling with her family to Disneyland many times and loved going for rides on the four-wheeler. Every holiday with Amy was extra special. She loved being with her family and receiving gifts that she needed to show every single person. She was resilient in all that she did, despite her health challenges. Amy was an angel on Earth. We are all better people because we knew her and loved her.
She met three of her grandparents in heaven, Herman and Maude Spencer and JVar Gillman. She is survived by her parents, Robert and Jadean Spencer and her siblings, Chad (Heather) Spencer and Natalie (Scott) Redd; as well as many more family members who will miss her dearly.
