Daniel Gray

July 7, 1987 — June 26, 2007

Genola resident, J. Daniel Gray, born July 7, 1987, passed away Tuesday, June 26, 2007, a tragic and senseless death at the age of 19. He was the modern day version of a talented, hard working "free spirit" who rarely reached expert in any field in which he worked except that of being a friend. Daniel started out his life as a bit of a tragedy. He lost both of his natural parents in vehicle accidents about a year and a half apart. He was two years old when he and his five year old brother, Dylan, came to live with his new family - brothers, Patrick, Kenneth, Preston and Kyle, and sisters, Kathleen, Paula and Kristine. Growing up he and his brothers had many interesting experiences...as most boys do. Daniel was very proud of all his brothers and always looked up to them...especially Dylan who recently lost his legs while serving in Iraq. Daniel was the youngest biological son of Robert Blaine and Shannon Lee Gray, both deceased, of Kamloops, BC and the youngest adopted son of Dr. David J. and Darlene L. Gray of Genola. Robert Blaine and David were brothers. Daniel loved sports, lifting weights, friends and playing family games. He didn't mind losing and showed us all how to store our pride. Daniel recently discussed going back to school to study photography and wanted to start his own small business. He and his Dad were also making plans to build storage units on the ground behind their home. Guess we'll have to wait. Daniel, we will miss you. We love you and may we say, "Thank you for the memories you gave us. We will cherish them for as long as we can. We will share them whenever we get together. Don't forget the Oregano and best wishes on your new journey." His surviving family all nearby in Utah include his parents, Dr. David J. and Marlene Gray; sisters, Kathleen (Robert) Guernsey, Paula (Richard) Jardine, Kristine (Michael) Hirschi; brothers, Patrick (Adrienne), Kenneth, Preston (Krista), Kyle (Ashlee), Dylan (Kelly); nephews, Jaron, Hayden, Nathan, Zane, Zeb, Brigham, Judd, Luke, Broden, Korbin, Conner; and nieces, Kesiah, Jordan, Mailee, Kennedy, Jessica, Lauren, Allie, Bailee, Caitlyn, McKenzie, Dallas, Kaycee, Raquel, Jocelyn, Aiyla, Kamber and Presley. Daniel is preceded in death by his natural parents, grandfathers, Kenneth Valleau, Joseph William Gray, Clarence Ignacio, grandmother, Grace Gray Saurett, and great grandfather, Lawrence Valleau. Funeral services will be Monday, July 2nd at 11:00 a.m. in the Genola LDS Chapel, Main & Center. A viewing will be Sunday from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Holladay-Brown Funeral Home, 66 South 300 East, Santaquin, and Monday at the church from 9:30 to 10:45 a.m. Daniel will be laid to rest in the Santaquin City Cemetery. The epithet most appropriately chosen is, "We're goin' campin'". In lieu of flowers, donations would be greatly appreciated and can be sent to Daniel Gray, c/o David and Darlene Gray, P.O. Box 50416, Provo, Utah 84605.
