Darlene D. Buist, 76, passed away peacefully January 23, 2017 in Murray, Utah after a long battle with Alzheimer's disease.  She was born November 5, 1940 in Shelley, Idaho to Samuel Lawrence and Elga Thorne Dial.  She married William Sheldon December 23, 1958 and they later divorced.  She married Jack L. Buist November 18, 1965 and they later divorced.

Darlene worked as an Executive Secretary at the University of Utah College of Nursing and St. Regis Paper Co.

Darlene was a loving mother and grandmother.  She loved her extended family and getting together with her brothers and sisters.  She loved spending time in Tabiona and being the hostess of many family gatherings and finding places for everyone to sleep.  She was known for her meatloaf, hot fudge and dumplings.  She enjoyed spending time during the winter in Yuma, Arizona surrounded by her sisters Bev, Nancy and Donna.  She especially loved her dogs.

She is survived by two sons, Ken Sheldon of Tabiona, Kyle (Nancy) Buist of Murray; 7 grandchildren, Bryce (Heather Haley), Brittney, Mallory, Maggie, Molly, Mitchell and Maren; 2 brothers, Bob (Joan) Dial, So. Jordan, Hal (Janice) Dial, West Valley; 3 sisters, Donna Hagen, Idaho Falls, Beverly Larsen, Nancy Cowley, Murray; sister-in-law, Arlene Dial; many nieces and nephews and her faithful dog, Babe.  She was preceded in death by her parents, brothers Grant, Leon and Dennis, a sister, Norma McIntosh.

Funeral services will be Friday, January 27th at 1:00 pm at the Heritage Ward, 67 West Clay Park Drive, Murray, Utah where friends may call from 11:00 to 12:45 pm prior to services.  Burial will be in the Redwood Memorial Cemetery
