Edith Contreras

Edith Contreras, daughter of Anicento Martizez Lucas and Maria Isabel Becerra Martinez.  Edith was born October 7th, 1963 in Patzcuaro Michoacan, Mexico.  She was one of 16 children, she was the 10th child to be born from the same parents.  Her large family consisted of 8 boys and 8 girls. You can imagine all the support that she received throughout her life.  Edith passed away September 20th, 2022 from a long bout of 8 years with cancer.  She passed in her home surrounded by her loving family, and husband of 36 loving years.

Jorge Contreres and Edith met and courted one another for 5 years.  They married in April of 1986, and gave birth to their first child in 1987.  Together they gave birth to 5 boys, she devoted her life to her family.  In the spirit of opportunity and looking to provide a better life for their children, Edith and Jorge made the decision to move their family to the United States in 1995.  Leaving everything behind, they started a new beginning with their 5 young children.

Despite the difficulties that come with being an immigrant, Edith with great effort and perseverance learned English and spoke it fluently. She was an accomplished complete person. She worked hard to earn a GED and continued her education in the medical field becoming a Home Care CNA.  She went on to bless the lives of many in her career.  She understood compassion, and sacrifice perfectly.

She was a faithful member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints where she devoted her time and efforts to help build those around her. Edith was a very special person, she touched the lives of many, she could light up the room with just a smile and was loved by many.  She showed kindness and compassion to those that she served, she truly possessed the gift of charity.

Edith enjoyed spending time with family, she enjoyed going on walks up Santaquin canyon. Her favorite time of the year was the fall when the leaves began to change, she loved taking pictures of the changing leaves and nature.  She also enjoyed camping, picnics, cooking, and supporting her boys and attending their different sporting events, she made great sacrifices for her boys, Edith was their number one supporter and biggest fan.  Edith was a strong woman, she left a legacy that will never be forgotten.  Most of all she loved spending time with her special son Fidel. Edith was blessed with 5 grandchildren which she cherished every moment spent with them.  She embraced her grandchildren as one of her own.

Edith is leaving behind her Husband of 36 years Jorge Contreras.  Her 5 boys; Jorge Contreras, Daniel Contreras, Fidel Contreras, David Contreras, and Oscar Aaron Contreras.  Grandchildren; Joshua Daniel Contreras, Elizabeth Contreras, Angel Josue Contreras, Oliver Conteras and Layla DE.
