Gregory Schuyler Hodgson Sr. passed away suddenly on Friday, June 6, 2025, at the age of 45.
Greg was born April 24, 1980, in Phoenix, Arizona, to John and Kathy Hodgson. He was the youngest of three sons. After graduating from high school, Greg converted to the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, a decision that deeply shaped his life. He faithfully served a mission in Poland, where he developed a lasting love for the people and culture.
He moved to Utah after meeting his sweetheart, Kathy McClain, and they were married in the Provo Temple on August 19, 2006. Together, they built a beautiful life and were blessed with two sons, Gregory Schuyler Hodgson II and John Lynn Hodgson, who were his pride and joy.
Greg seemed to follow the motto, “work hard, play harder,” pouring his energy into everything he did. While working full-time and raising a young family, he earned a master’s degree—an accomplishment that spoke to his dedication and drive. As a computer programmer, he took great pride in his work and found purpose in providing for those he loved.
When it was time to play, Greg's energy and excitement for life could outlast even the kids. He loved games, the big rides at Lagoon, arcades, “fun Fridays” with his boys, and anything competitive. He was very active; running marathons, playing sports, and riding bikes. He was also the best dancing Patrick Starfish you have ever seen.
Greg's charisma, humor, and generosity made him a friend to many. Above all, he was a devoted husband and father. His wife and sons were his best friends, and he cherished every moment with them. His legacy is one of family, love, laughter, hard work, and adventure.
We already miss him more than words can express, and will carry his memory with us every day.
A memorial will be held in his honor on June 21, 2025 at 10:00 a.m. at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints chapel at 591 Summit Ridge Parkway in Santaquin. There will also be a Zoom link for those who would like to attend virtually.
