Iris Finch Newton passed away Tuesday, April 7, 2026 in Mona, Utah at her son's home. She was born May 24, 1934 in Goshen, Utah to Charles Edgar and Lillian Vearl Smith Finch.
She spent most of her young life working on the farm she was raised on, and attending school. She attended Weber State College for a period of time. At the age of 19, she married Allan Dell Newton Sr. on November 27, 1953 in Las Vegas. They spent their lives together raising three kids.
Iris worked several jobs over the years, but her love was working as a tax consultant. She worked as a private tax consultant for many years. Later in life she served a mission with her husband for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in England.
Iris loved the outdoors. Camping, fishing, hiking and gardening were some of her favorite things. She spent many summers teaching her grandkids how to fish, and showing them the joys of the outdoors. She was also skilled at sewing, quilting, and crochet, although she argued she was not.
Iris was preceded in death by her husband, Allan Dell Newton Sr., Ronald Gene Newton (son), Charles and Lillian Finch (parents), Lyman L. Loney (foster brother), Fenton Finch, Adrian J. Finch, Ardath Finch Newton, Elmo Finch, Mervin S. Finch, and Carl E. Finch. She is survived by a sister Verna VanAusdal (Gary), her sons, Allan Dell Newton Jr. (Paula), Wayne Lyle Newton (Lisa Cae), and numerous grandkids and great grandkids.
Funeral services will be held Monday, April 13th at 11:00 am at the Goshen LDS Church, 78 So. Center Street. A viewing will be from 9:30 to 10:45 am at the church prior to the services. Interment will be at the Goshen Cemetery.
