Irma Penrod

Irma Chloe Allen Penrod, age 95 of Goshen, passed away December 10, 2009. She was born on May 10, 1914, to Fredrick C. Allen and Mary A. Jasperson Allen. Irma was a lifelong resident of Goshen. She married Lloyd A. Penrod in the Manti Temple on November 8, 1945. She operated the Goshen Mercantile, later Penrod Mercantile, for many years on Goshen's Main Street. For about 50 years, she provided a service of selling groceries to the community, and if you asked, she could probably find about anything else you needed. She enjoyed getting to know the customers who came into the store. Irma was an active member of the LDS Church and served in many capacities. She had a lifelong love of family history and serving in the temple. She was known around town as someone who had a wealth of knowledge of Goshen and its history. She enjoyed gardening, was an excellent cook and most of all she loved her family and enjoyed their visits. Irma was preceded in death by her parents; husband; sisters Mary and Melba; brothers Clinton and Fred Junior; son Oliver; daughter Jean Aitken; son-in-law Bernell Aitken; grandson Jerry Aitken; great-granddaughter Kimberly Stevens; great-grandson Dustin Dunn. She is survived by children; Lloyd T. (Marie), Fay (Lee) Ryan, Allen (Barbara), daughter in law, Karma Penrod; many grandchildren and great-grandchildren; nephews Reid (Nancy) Allen and Mark Allen; niece Sandra (Steve) Brimhall. Funeral services will be held Monday, December 14, 2009 at 11:00 a.m. in the Goshen Ward Chapel, Goshen, Utah. Friends may call Sunday, December 13 at the Holladay-Brown Funeral Home, 66 South 300 East, Santaquin from 6:00 p.m.- 8:00 p.m. and Monday from 9:30 a.m.-10:30 a.m. at the chapel prior to the service. Interment will follow in the Goshen Cemetery. Special thanks to Irma's many friends and neighbors for their love and concern over the years and to the caregivers at the Golden Skyline Assisted Living Center and Sanpete Valley Hospice.
