June Maureen Montague

June Maureen Montague, loving daughter, mother, grandmother, sister and friend, passed away Tuesday July 21, 2026. June was born January 19, 1944 to Cecil Jarvis and Ethel Keele Smith Jarvis in Santaquin, Utah.

There are people who go through this life, leaving behind little evidence they were ever here. June was not one of those people. She left beauty everywhere she went. Her beauty was found in a sitdown conversation where you left feeling like you were family. Beautifully written cards sent through the mail for a special occasion or simply no occasion at all. Her beauty was found within a gift bag with some of your favorite treats, or a yummy box of cookies. Everything she did, she did out of love and genuine friendship. That is simply who she was.

The greatest hardships she endured in this life, never diminished her ability to care for and serve others. She lived by the motto…The simplest way to be happy is to do good.

June attended the school for the blind in Ogden, Utah. She spent many years with “Katja”, her wonderful service dog and companion.

June had a great love for her family. Having family and good friends was what life was all about. June loved her daughter Rosemary and her grandson Matthew very much. She loved being a Mother and Grandmother.

She enjoyed gardening, playing card games and watching a good movie with yummy treats and friends. June loved all kinds of flowers. The brighter the blossoms, the better! She enjoyed shopping all the flower nurseries to find the perfect arrangements for herself and others.

She had the largest sweet tooth! Chocolate was her favorite! “You can never eat too much fudge”, was often one of her most common phrases during the Christmas holiday. There wasn’t a holiday she didn’t love to decorate for, or a birthday to celebrate. She was always busy sending a card or out buying or baking a sweet treat, to take to someone else. This type of kindness never fades. Her kindness will always be remembered.

The memories she leaves each of us are rich with laughter, genuine conversation, and the comfort of knowing that we were loved. To know her was to absolutely love her.

June is a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. She has always been a wonderful minister. Thinking of others came naturally to her. She was blessed with the ability to see the good within those she came in contact with. June loves her Savior and had a firm testimony of His love and His grace.

She enjoyed all her visits with neighbors, friends, and family and was grateful to consider them her friends. On occasion, June would ask others to describe the beautiful sunset to her. Later, she would respond in complete faith “One day I will be able to see that for myself.” Her faith never wavered in her Savior.

Enjoy watching those beautiful sunsets, dear June. You will be missed but never forgotten, until we meet again!

June is survived by Carl and Carol Butler (brother and sister-in-law) LaRae Smith, Joann Smith (sisters-in-law) Matthew Livesey (grandson).

She is preceded in death by Cecil Jarvis, Ethel Keele Smith Jarvis, Rosemary Livesey, Colleen and Lewis Rhodes, John W. Smith and Jesse R. Smith.

There will be a viewing held at Brown Family Mortuary in Santaquin, Utah on Saturday August 1, 2026 from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm with a service to follow at 1:00 pm. Interment will be in the Santaquin City Cemetery.

In lieu of Flowers, go make someone else’s day bright, by taking them a yummy treat. That is what our sweet June would do.
