Kay Wright Harrell

Kay Wright Harrell, age 89, of LaGrange, Kentucky, returned to her Heavenly Father Saturday May 31, 2025. She was born October 31, 1935 in Springville, Utah to the late Mervin and Mable Wheeler Wright. 

Kay was a devoted member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She served in many callings and positions of responsibility throughout her lifetime of dedicated church service including Director of Family History Center, Stake Primary President, Area Family History Leader and Young Women President. She was also a devoted mother, grandmother, and beloved great grandmother. She loved traveling abroad and adventure in general. Kay was known by her family as the “Family Genealogy Queen.” She was a patron of the arts, such as drama, music and literature. She attended BYU and University of Utah. She leaves behind a legacy of faith, service, and music. Kay will be dearly missed by all who knew her forever and always.

She is preceded in death by her loving husband Fred Rankin Harrell; parents; son-in-law, Jim Young McGregor; and grandson, Travis E. Harrell; siblings, Dorothy, Richard and Dale Wright.

She leaves behind to cherish her memory her children, Ronald Wright Harrell, Cindy Harrell McGregor and Roxanne Harrell Woodbury (David); grandchildren, Rachel King, Kristen McGregor, Jared H. McGregor, Nathan H. McGregor, Heather McGregor, Ryan A. Harrell, Justin A. Harrell, Nicole W. Preece, Amanda K. Bodine, Austin H. Woodbury, Reagan D. Woodbury and Brittany A. McFadden; great grandchildren, Breahna King, Afton King, Kaela Masoncup, Savannah King, Evelyn King, Ezra F. McGregor, Gwendolyn McGregor, Rory McGregor, Kalli J. McGregor, Luke W. McGregor, Lily J. McGregor, Carter Y. McGregor, Lawrence W. Preece, Oliver H. Preece, Audrey N. Preece, Lydia R. Preece, Everett A. Preece, Peter D. Bodine, Darcy J. Bodine, Evelyn F. Bodine, Jacob D. Woodbury, John P. Woodbury and Ruby A. Woodbury; brothers, Larry and Calvin Wright; and a host of family and friends.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am on Saturday, June 14, 2025 in the chapel of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 860 East 200 North, Springville, Utah with burial to follow in Evergreen Cemetery in Springville, Utah. Family and friends may pay their respects on Saturday, June 14, 2025 at the church from 10:00 am until the time of service.
