Lance L Bateman was born on October 6, 1960 to Wayne Charles and Colleen Braithwaite Bateman in Murray, Utah. He was the 4th of 7 children. He was the best son, brother, husband, dad, and grandpa. He will be sorely missed. He was a man of great faith who loved the Lord. He loved the Book of Mormon and read it several times a year. When he wasn’t with his family or serving in his various church callings, he was working on the farm. Lance was a farm boy from the very beginning. He started out on his grandpa Preston’s farm in West Jordan. In 1972 the family bought land in Mosida to start Bateman’s Mosida Farms. Farming was one of the great passions of Lance’s life. He loved the farm and dedicated his life to it. He loved dairying with his dad and brothers and building the business with his sons and the next generation.
Lance met Kay Peery while attending Payson High School. After serving a mission in Raleigh North Carolina he married Kay, the love of his life, in the Salt Lake Temple on December 10, 1981. His family was his pride and joy. He loved being a dad, but he loved being a grandpa even more. He loved spending time with the grandkids, swimming and going on side by side rides around the farm to share his passion with them. He took a great interest in their lives, and could hardly wait to hold the little ones as they joined the family.
He humbly and quietly went about doing good. He passed away on March 27, 2022 surrounded by his family. Everyone loved him and his passing will leave a great hole in our lives.
He is survived by his parents Wayne and Colleen Bateman. His 6 siblings. His wife Kay and their 11 children. Preston (Jennie), Kolbi Tervort (Tommy), Tess Nielsen (Kyle), Marshall, Katelyn (Boyd) Anderson , Kaleb (Sadie), Joel, Carson, Tucker, Sophie, and Seth. And his 19 grandchildren who were the greatest joy of his life.
