Larry Kay Coleman, of Santaquin, Utah, received the best present ever on Christmas Day (December 25, 2025) as he peacefully ascended into Heaven after a prolonged illness. Larry was born November 1, 1938 in Paul, Minidoka, Idaho, to Edward Coleman and Elial (Lila) Radmall, and was the second youngest of 6 children. He spent his teenage years in American Fork, Utah, where he met his sweetheart, Charlotte Jeppson. After graduating High School, and serving a mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints in the Southern States Mission between 1958 and 1961, he and the love of his life, Charlotte, were married in the Salt Lake Temple on May 25, 1961. They raised 8 children, and have 45 grandchildren and 62 great-grandchildren. Recently, they celebrated their 64th wedding anniversary.
Larry attended Utah State University and in 1966, completed a double Bachelor of Science in Business Education and Office Procedures. After two years of teaching at Manila High School in Daggett County, he returned to Utah State University to earn his Elementary Education Credentials, and taught Kindergarten, Third, and Fourth Grades. In 1970, he and his family relocated to Bairoil, Wyoming, where he taught the First and SecondReset Grades. They later moved to Payson, Utah, in 1973, where he taught Special Education in Sandy Utah, while simultaneously earning his Special Education Certification from BYU and later on in 1979, Larry obtained his Masters Degree from BYU. Upon completion, he taught Special Education in the Nebo School District from 1973 until his retirement in 1998.
Larry's passions included family history, oil painting, woodworking, gardening, nature, exploring, playing all sorts of games with his family. He also loved writing music, singing, and playing new instruments with his family. For a few years he and his family performed a musical program composed by Charlotte called “Standing Strong As a Family” for church groups and other organizations.
A lifelong active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Larry cherished his church membership and temple attendance. He faithfully served in various callings, and later served another church mission with his sweetheart at the Provo South Family History Center for nearly ten years, and volunteered for another 8 years. He also enjoyed serving in the Provo Temple Baptistry.
Larry taught his family by example the values of faith, honor, respect, integrity, hard work, dependability, selfless service, personal courage, and good citizenship. He honored God and his parents, and brought honor to his father’s name.
Larry is preceded in death by his parents, his three older brothers, Clarence, Veldon, and Ardell, and his sister, Leda, as well as their spouses and his dear grandson, Chad Coleman. He is survived by his wife, Charlotte; his children, David (Becca) Coleman; Darren (Carolyn) Coleman; Lila Le (Travis) Rawlings; Robert (Bob) (Sharlene) Coleman; William (Bill) (Lisa) Coleman; Charlotte (Lottie) (Troy) Gustafson; Leda Jo (Michael) McCullough; and Taya Leila Carter. He is also survived by his youngest brother Ronald (Kris) Coleman and his beloved brother-in-law Theron Jeppson.
The funeral service will be held on January 3, 2026 at 11:00 am at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints located at 90 South 200 East, Santaquin, UT. A viewing will also be held just prior to the funeral from 9:00 am - 10:45 am that same morning. The Interment will take place immediately following in the Santaquin City Cemetery at 100 East 400 South, Santaquin, UT.
Larry loved and treasured his precious family with a pure and abiding love. He was extremely proud of his children, their spouses, and grandchildren. His greatest wish was that his kids would always know that he would always be there for them. He loved them fiercely and would sacrifice anything and everything for his family. Although his absence is keenly felt, the memories and the precious stories of his love and legacy will carry on in our hearts forever. May you rest in peace! May you have sweet memories and dreams as you move on to your new adventure, Dad! We’ll love you forever and through eternity!
Special thanks and appreciation to the staff at The Seasons of Santaquin, I-Care Home Health, Ward members, neighbors, Santaquin City Ambulance crews, family, friends, and many other caretakers and thoughtful people who blessed Larry’s life.
