Leland Sanderson

March 7, 1921 — July 27, 2008

Leland “Pug” Sanderson, 87, died July 27, 2008 in Payson, Utah. He was born March 7, 1921 in Clarion, Utah to Neils Samuel and Sarah Roxena Chatwin Sanderson. He married Audrey Marie Naef March 17, 1943 in Payson and were sealed in the Manti LDS Temple May 17, 1958.
Leland worked as an Engineer in the Eureka mines. He was an active member of the LDS church serving in a Bishopric, on the Stake High Council and as a Provo Temple worker. He was also active in the community serving on the Tintic School Board, Secretary in the Miner’s Union, a volunteer fireman and past Fire Chief, on the Eureka city council, and a Past Exalted Ruler in the Elk’s Lodge. He was a hard worker and loved to watch any sport but enjoyed playing baseball. He especially loved his family and spending time with them hunting and fishing. We will miss him dearly.
He is survived by his wife of Eureka; children, Jerry Leland (Katie) Sanderson, Salt Lake, Susan Marie (Fred) Christensen, Santaquin, Michael J (Deborah) Sanderson, West Jordan, Brent S (Annette) Sanderson, Lehi, Cindy Ilene (Steve) Child, Payson; 26 grandchildren, 54 great grandchildren; a brother, Norman “Jiggs” (Emily) Sanderson, Pleasant Grove, and a sister, LaVerne Briskey, Chino, California. He was preceded in death by his parents, 11 brothers and sisters, a grandson and 5 great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be Saturday, August 2nd at 11:00 am in the Eureka LDS Chapel. Friends may call at the Holladay-Brown Funeral Home, 66 South 300 East, Santaquin, Friday 6 to 8 pm and Saturday at the church from 9:30 to 10:45 am. Interment, Eureka City Cemetery.
