Marilyn A. Brown

Marilyn Allred Brown passed away peacefully March 13, 2024. She was born July 9, 1928, in Salt Lake City, Utah, the youngest of five children to Lothair and Charlotte Allred. (DeMar, Louise, Edwinna, Kenneth)

During her younger years she excelled and enjoyed various accomplishments.  She has a beautiful singing voice and won a radio Spanish song contest. She attended the University of Utah and was proud to be a member of Delta Gamma for 70 years.

While attending East High, she met handsome Lawrence Martin Brown and they were sealed in marriage on June 29, 1948, in the Salt Lake Temple.

Together they owned a successful business, Skyline Office Supply, and established the Bench Podium Company. Much of Larry’s professional success was due to Marilyn’s love and support. Together they enjoyed the opportunity of traveling throughout the world.  One of her favorite trips to Spain took place when they won an advertising contest.

Making a positive contribution in her community, was always a primary interest for Marilyn.  She enjoyed her service on the Murray City Council and her volunteer efforts at Parkside Elementary which continued for 14 years.

Marilyn was an outdoors girl.  She and Larry loved horses and raised Limousin cattle. She also loved her rose garden and the beauty of Marilyn’s roses would brighten every summer day.

Marilyn’s greatest joy was her family and friends, all of whom loved and adored her. She took great joy in remembering loved ones’ birthdays and special occasions. She always took time to sit and listen and share wise advice.  Her example and love of life will be greatly missed.

Larry and Marilyn had six children, Julianne Smith, Sherri (Terry) Christiansen, Lawrence Martin Jr. (Pam), Scott Douglas (Traci), Robyn Anderson (Craig), Brett William (Brooke).  They had 17 grandchildren, 56 great grandchildren and 1 great-great granddaughter.

The sustaining force in Marilyn’s life was her faith and testimony of Jesus Christ.  She was a valiant member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints.  She faithfully served in many callings over her lifetime with joy and devotion.

Marilyn’s family wishes to express deep love and gratitude to Katiloka Lolesio for her loving care of both Larry and Marilyn in their later years.
