Rashell Bateman

April 10, 1967 — October 26, 2018

Rashell Johnson Bateman passed away October 26, 2018 at the age of 51. This beautiful and talented person lost her life to a long suffering battle of addiction. She was surrounded by her loved ones at this difficult time at Utah Valley Hospital in Provo, Utah.

Rashell was born to Verla Nadine Cole and Randall TyAthos (Keyhole) Johnson on April 10, 1967 in Provo, Utah, the youngest of 6 children. She began sharing her life with her soul mate, best friend and love of her life, Richard Clegg, in 1997. He showered her with love and tenderness. During the last weeks of her life Dick rarely left her side, kissing and holding her hand.

Rashell was an amazing cook and loved to cook for her family. She was a very talented artist. She would make every holiday memorable with designer birthday cakes, exciting Halloween costumes, and Valentines boxes for her loved ones. She was an avid hunter and fisherwoman. She loved camping, hiking and looking for sheds (antlers).  Exploring anything that involved being outside, she was there.  If someone was in need of help she was the first one to be of assistance. She had an amazing green thumb. Her houseplants are beautiful and could be in any magazine. She enjoyed planting and could make anything grow and thrive.

Rashell worked for Provo School District, Penny’s, and her favorite job was driving a water truck for Sunroc.

She adored her two sons, other-daughter, and her grandkids were her ultimate joy. She loved her cats Morgan and Missy. She taught Missy how to come to her when called and jump up and give her a kiss.

She is survived by her two sons, Rueben LaMar Johnson (Nicole), TyAthos Leon Larsen, other-daughter Chelsea (Kyle) Taylor, grandchildren Enoch, Sophie Ann, Afton, Dominick, Ryker, and Zoe. Other-father Wes Cole, siblings Una (Rich) Hebner, Rick (Sandy) Averett, Sherrie (Jim) Marshall, Cindy (Bob) Caldwell, and Richard Johnson, sisters-in-law,  Jeannie (Doug) Wall, Jerri Jones, Cindi Viklud, and Tenny Wood, aunts and uncles Beth Saldivar, Melda (Jim) Mackay, Ilona (Ed) Warner, and Kay (David) Day, and many nieces and nephews.

Rashell is preceded in death by her grandparents, parents, uncles Ernie Saldivar, Jay Stickney, Alden Stickney, nephews Jeffery Marshall and Brian Jones.

There will be a celebration of her life Thursday, November 1, 2018 at 6:00 pm at Brown Family Mortuary, 66 South 300 East, Santaquin, Utah.
