Sherrie Cornish

March 20, 1949 — December 26, 2008

Our dear sweet grandmother, sister and loving wife, Sherrie Lyn VanDerMeyden Cornish, 59, of Eureka, passed through the veil into Eternity December 26, 2008. Her son Cory, daughter Anitra Ruth, granddaughter Sabryna, along with her brother Govert Jr. and parents Govert and Ruth VanDerMeyden were waiting to welcome her back home. As a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter day Saints Sherrie held many callings throughout her life, beginning at 13 playing the piano in Primary. She has been a teacher and leader in Primary, MIA, Relief Society and Cub Scouts. She also served in Stake callings until the last few years when she became ill and her body grew too weak to do more. Sherrie especially loved music and dance. At age 3 she was a dancer and at age 16 was teaching and dancing and loving it until she met and married Arthur M. Cornish in the Salt Lake Temple August 29, 1968. They have 7 children, Anitra Cornish (deceased), Cory (deceased) and Danielle Cornish, Ferron, Tisha and Ron Ross, Payson, Katrina Clements, Eureka, Jada and JaVee Lowe, Santaquin, Anitra Cornish, Eureka, Deidra and Garth Sumsion, Springville; 38 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren. She has two sisters, Connie (Brian) Arnold, Eureka and Robbie (Dean) Medina, Taylorsville, and a brother, Govert Jr. (Sharon) deceased. Funeral services will be Wednesday, December 31st at 12:00 noon in the Eureka LDS Church. Friends may call at the church on Tuesday from 5 to 9 pm and Wednesday from 10:45 to 11:45 am. Burial, Eureka Cemetery. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the Sherrie Cornish Memorial Fund at any Utah Community Credit Union or Mt. High Credit Union.
