Val Newell

d. November 26, 2014

With extreme sadness we announce the death of Val Dean Newell, our husband, father, great grandfather, brother and friend.  He passed away at home on November 26, 2014 after a long courageous battle with COPD.  Val was born on March 27, 1949 in Provo Utah.  His parents were Raymond Dean and Evelyn Rudd Newell.  Val is survived by his hero sister and best friend LaRee (Mark) Haveron. Also, Les and Tareasa.

Val grew up in Orem and loved to explore the orchards, fields and mountains.  When Val was in the third grade at Geneva School he met Vickie Taylor.  They became life long friends and soul mates and married on June 16, 1967.  Their marriage was solemnized in the Provo Temple on June 16, 1977.  They were blessed with four amazing children, Brett (Jill), Bryan (Sabrina), Machiel (Jon), Adam (Teleasa). Val is also survived by 17 grandchildren with one on the way and 6 great grandchildren. Val was so proud of each of his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Val was an amazing outdoorsman.  He loved, hunting, fishing, trapping, hiking and camping, and looking for gold.  He loved Maui and trips to Lake Powell. He loved exploring mountains with his children and grand children. There was nothing he could not fix or make better.

Val was preceded in death by his parents and beloved brother Ray Lyn.

At Vals request please no flowers.  Instead take someone you love out to lunch and take a beautiful hike.
