Daniel Schow

March 31, 1980 — September 5, 2020

It is with deep sorrow, great sadness, and much love that we announce the passing of Daniel Keith Schow, of Lehi, at the age of 40 years old on Saturday, September 5, 2020. Daniel was the firstborn child to parents Paul and Denae Schow in Murray, Utah on March 31, 1980. He was the best older brother to his three sisters, Heidi, Jennifer and Jessica. Daniel bravely fought brain cancer for the past five years with a genuine smile on his face and hugging everyone every chance he could.

Daniel grew up in Sandy, Utah where he graduated from Jordan High School in 1998, surrounded by lifelong friends. He was a true friend that always stood up for the little guy. He had a passion for music, always singing at the top of his lungs, enjoyed concerts, and would often call his friends to tell them that he heard a song on the radio that reminded him of them and wanted them to know how much he loved and missed them.

He married the love of his life, Monica Alexanderson, and together they shared and built a beautiful life together. They were married and sealed on April 16, 2004 in the Salt Lake Temple. Together they raised four strong, amazing children – Samantha 21, Connor 14, Brooklyn 13 and Avery 6. This was Daniel’s most proud achievement.

His career was proudly spent at Discover Card where he developed many great friendships over the last 19 years. His tenure at Discover speaks not only of his work ethic, but his loyalty and dedication.

He enjoyed serving in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. He served in the Brazil Interlagos Mission and Anaheim, California Mission 1999-2001 and continually served the Lord in many capacities from teaching gospel doctrine classes to serving on the High Council at the time of his passing. He truly loves his Savior, Jesus Christ, that was a constant source of light in his life; a light that Daniel freely and willingly shared.

Daniel believed that a Hero is someone that LOVES everyone, accepts others, and is there for them. He says that a person that loves AND gives hugs is a Superhero. This is how Daniel lived his life and he is most definitely our Superhero! Daniel was a hugger and so full of love and life. He loved with his whole heart and oh, how we will so miss those big bear hugs! He won the hearts of all who knew him. He showed so much love that even complete strangers felt comfortable giving him a hug. With a positive attitude, magnetic personality and a heart of gold, everyone was an instant friend. There is no one quite like him.

Daniel loved being with people and everyone loved being with him. Daniel was everyone’s favorite, and everyone felt like they were his favorite. He had an incredible gift of making you feel like you were the most important person in the world. He had a way of making you feel so loved and special. He would go out of his way to make you feel welcome. He was kind and very accepting, always happy, with a warm smile and contagious laugh.

Family meant everything to Daniel. We always knew we could count on him to support every single family function we had. Family was his priority. It was very important to him to make as many memories with his family as possible, from camping, to Disneyland, cruises and world travel, to family home evenings and movie nights. Oh the memories we made and will forever treasure!

Daniel had such an impact on every life he touched. He would light up the room when he came in and was always the life of the party. He was quite the storyteller. He could tell a story about an uneventful walk next door and make it sound crazy and hilarious. He made everything funny and always kept us laughing! He brought so much joy and laughter wherever he went.

Daniel leaves behind his wife Monica, children Samantha 21, Connor 14, Brooklyn 13 and Avery 6. He is also survived by parents, Paul Keith Schow and Denae Schow; siblings, Heidi (James) Petersen, Jennifer (Jared) Cox, Jessica (DJ) Osborne; grandmothers, Norma Jean Schow and Audrey Vonroth Godfrey, as well as many beloved nieces and nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins. He was preceded in death by two grandfathers, Gordon Keith Schow and LaVar Delbert Godfrey.

This world is a better place because of Daniel and we are better for having known him. We hope to live more as he did by showing more love, kindness and acceptance, loving life to the fullest –Everyday. We are all so very thankful, forever grateful, and unbelievably blessed to have had him in our lives. Life will never be the same without you, Daniel. We miss you dearly and love you so much!
