Dewey Hale

December 4, 1962 — April 11, 2020

Dewey Weldon Hale passed away into the arms of a loving Heavenly Father on Saturday, April 11, 2020. He was born December 4, 1962, in Ashland, Oregon to Soni Huffman Hale, and was later adopted by Ralph J Hale and resided in Central Point, Oregon.

Dewey graduated from Crater High School in Medford, Oregon where he excelled in football, basketball, and baseball wearing #44. Dewey graduated from Utah State University with a Degree in Business Administration and afterward built a successful career in sales.

Dewey felt privileged to have contributed service to The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints by serving a fulltime mission in Roanoke, Virginia from 1984-86. Dewey continued to serve his church in various assignments including the role of Bishop and in the local Stake Presidency. Dewey loved to serve people which he demonstrated by his community service on different boards within C.A. and A.A. of the Salt Lake City area.

There are 2 undeniable truths about Dewey through-out his life, he loved to have a good time, and he loved his children and grandchildren. Some of his happiest moments were spent camping with friends and family, four-wheeling, enjoying sports (or at least cheering against the Y), scrounging up the best treats, and rough-housing with all his kids and grandkids. He was the expert in finding a bargain buy, coming up with creative nicknames, and from his childhood stories, was the defender of the underdog.

During his later years, he struggled with addiction and ultimately passed away due to liver failure. Due to the state of the world and current pandemic, his immediate family was only able to visit him for a short time before his passing, but are extremely grateful for the healing and peaceful spirit that surrounded them at that time. The family would like to express gratitude for the nursing staff at Paramount Health and Rehabilitation who were there with him in his last moments and ensured a peaceful and pain-free transition from this mortal life.

Dewey was preceded in death by his brother David Hale. He is survived by his parents Ralph & Soni Hale, brother Stacy (Mary) Hale, former wife Michelle Hale, children Alyssa (Alex) Young, Nathan Hale, and his two granddaughters Amelia-Jane and Ava Young.

Private family graveside services will be held at the Riverton, Utah City Cemetery.
