LeRoy Wagner Jr

May 26, 1937 — October 23, 2020

Edgar LeRoy Wagner Jr. left this earth for his next road trip on October 23, 2020 with family by his side. He was born May 26, 1937 and raised in Colonia Dublan, Chihuahua, Mexico.  He moved to the United States at the age of 18 to live with his sister the day after his graduation from Juarez Stake Academy High School.

He joined the military and served as a driver in the U.S. Army, spending the bulk of his time in Germany. He learned a total of 7 German words and 10 numbers while there. After completing his military service, he enrolled at Brigham Young University where he met the love of his life, Shirley Thomas to whom he was married July 15, 1960. They immediately began their family with 4 children in the first 6 years of marriage and they were sealed in the Salt Lake City Temple in 1965. Two more children followed 6 years later.

Family was always important to LeRoy and he worked many jobs to provide for his growing family. He exemplified hard work, honesty, diligence, reliability and completing all his commitments. One example was when he worked multiple jobs in order to provide Christmas bikes for his family. He taught all of his children the value of hard work, keeping your word and promises and being there for others. He loved driving and drove 18-wheel trucks all over the United States and Canada. He also loved all BYU sports, even volleyball.

He was lucky to be married to Shirley for 40 years. After her passing, he was fortunate to meet Ann Davis and enjoyed 13 years married to her.

He was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He served in many callings and leadership roles. He also served 3 missions later in his life.

LeRoy is survived by his siblings: Carolyn Lunt, Beth Tripp, Arnold Wagner (Diane); his children Karen Christensen (Dan), Steven Wagner, Gary Wagner, Paul Wagner (Tuca), Kelly Wagner (Ashley), Brian Wagner (Kirsten) and 10 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren (all boys!)

He was preceded in death by his parents, Edgar and Theresa Wagner, step mother Gladys Wagner, wife Shirley; his second wife Ann; 1 grandchild and 2 great-grandchildren.
