NaTaya Emery Ortiz was born Wednesday January 22, 2020 at Utah Valley Regional Medical Center in Provo, Utah. She was born at 28 weeks gestation weighing 14.8 ounces. She is the daughter of Miguel and Crystal Ortiz.
She was the tiniest baby in the newborn ICU for over a month. She was a feisty little fighter who was going to show everyone that she had a purpose on this earth. While her mom was pregnant with her they received the devastating news that NaTaya had so many problems that there was no chance of survival. The day she was born she was absolutely perfect in every way. She was on the NIP V for a few days before she needed some help from a ventilator. The doctors performed so many tests to see if anything was wrong with her, and they all came back negative. She is known as the “little mystery baby.” Everything everyone could think of or what should have been came back normal. She is a strong little fighter.
In one of her blessings she received, we were told that they had felt strongly that the Lord had left the decision up to her. If she could handle what was to come, she could stay. If not, she was welcome to come back and receive her glorified body.
She fought a good fight while she decided what she wanted. On April 4th 2020 she decided she could no longer fight as hard as she was for the last two and a half months and decided to return home.
She returned with honor to her Father in Heaven and her older brother Miguel. NaTaya had passed peacefully in the arms of her mother with her father right next to her as they facetimed her siblings who weren’t allowed to be by her side with the new hospital policies.
She was survived by her parents Miguel and Crystal, brothers Tyrone and Raidyr, sisters Nia and Devree, grandparents Leon Ortiz of Mexico, Alfredo and Terry Parra of Santaquin, and her great-grandparents Cleil and Mary Smith of Santaquin.
She was preceded in death by her big brother Miguel Alfredo Ortiz and her grandma Emerita Ortiz of Mexico.
NaTaya will be missed tremendously by everyone who knew her.
