Robert Gear

December 19, 1942 — May 24, 2020

Our husband, father, grandfather, and most of all a best friend Robert (“Bob”) Erwin Gear returned to the presence of his Father in Heaven on May 24th, 2020 as he passed-away peacefully in his own home from natural causes.  Bob was born on December 19th, 1942 in Los Angeles California to Erwin Lovin Gear and Fern Bate Gear.  He was their only child.  The absolute joy and focal point of their lives.

Bob married the love of his life Sherree Lynn Evans on June 14th, 1969.  Bob and Sherree later followed their faith as members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints by solemnizing their marriage and their eternal family as they were sealed in the Manti, Utah temple on December 28th, 1976.  Bob is survived by and his legacy continues through his spouse Sherree, their children Robert Troy (Jennifer) Gear, Angela Lynn (Jason) Manning, Ryan Bradley (Lisa) Gear, Kevin Brett (Machelle) Gear, Amanda Rose (Robbie) Herbstritt, 16 grandchildren, and the first of his great grandchildren arriving in July 2020.

Bob was an alumnus of Brigham Young University, where he graduated with honors and a business degree on May 28th, 1965.  He continued his educational pursuit, completing coursework and curriculum toward earning a master’s degree.  Bob spent his career as District Manager with Ford Motor Company.  Bob was a very respected leader with his associates, partners, peers, and customers of Ford Motors.  Bob represented the Ford products and their dealer networks throughout the western United States for over 35 years.  Bob retired from Ford Motor Company in November of 2003.

Bob had a passion for spending time in the outdoors with his family.  He and his family shared an enthusiasm for fishing, hunting, camping, hiking, horse riding, and just about anything that offered uninterrupted and quiet time accompanied by those he loved and cherished most. Bob had a special place in his heart and tremendous love for each of his grandchildren.  He spent time hanging out, talking, and joking with them.  He was always eager to see his grandchildren and looked for any opportunity to take them on a ride in his truck, out to lunch, or up the canyon.  Whatever he could do to spend time with his grandchildren.  Bob found great pleasure in caring for his two dogs, Bitsy and Mia.  They provided him affection, entertainment, consolation, and brought an infectious joy to his life.  Bob was an excellent provider for his family.  He did whatever it took to ensure his family’s needs were met.

Though his family misses him tremendously and will continue to miss him for years to come, we find comfort in knowing he is now in the presence of his Father in Heaven, loved ones who have preceded him in death, and is able to continue his work and progression toward eternal exaltation.

A viewing will be held in honor of Bob on Thursday May 28th, 2020 from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm at the Brown Family Mortuary located at 66 South 300 East Santaquin, Utah.  Family, friends, and associates are all welcome and encouraged to attend.  In consideration of gathering restrictions, funeral services will be held with family and closest friends on Friday May 29th, 2020.  Robert will be laid to rest at the American Fork, Utah cemetery.
