Ruth Wall

May 18, 1933 — November 7, 2020

Ruth was born on May 18, 1933 in Santaquin, Utah to Bert and Norma Carver VanAusdal. The 5th child in a family of 9 children, Ruth grew up with and adventurous spirit and the kindest of hearts. She was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Ladder Day Saints.

In 1950, Ruth met the man of her dreams, Elfawn (Fawn) Wall. After a brief courtship, Fawn’s father sold his horse so he could give Fawn enough money to make Ruth his bride. In a surprise twist, the love-birds eloped and were married in Pioche, Nevada on October 7, 1950.

To say they were happily married is an understatement. The two were best when they were together. Ruth and Fawn claimed Page, Arizona; Orville, California and Santaquin, Utah as home and raised a hardworking and loving family of one son, Terral (Buck), and two daughters, Kaylee and Karen. Ruth was a wonderful mother and always said that her family was her pride and joy. She beamed as she boasted of the achievements accomplished her kids, grandkids and great-grandkids.

Ruth loved working with her hands. She was an accomplished seamstress and could crochet a full-sized afghan in just a few hours. Ruth crocheted countless doll dresses, baby blankets, and hot pads to give to friends and family. All Ruth’s granddaughters loved being able to choose an afghan in their favorite color. Many of her granddaughters used those blankets, so made with love, to wrap-up their own babies for the ride home from the hospital.

Ruth also loved to garden. Her thumbs were green through and through! She could make just about anything bloom and her yard was always the envy of the neighborhood. She also loved to compete in league bowling tournaments and square dancing with Fawn.

During her working years, Ruth was a proud lunch lady. The head baker for 24 years, Ruth was 100% committed to never letting any child go hungry regardless of the circumstances. At home, Ruth’s house always had a homemade treat or a yummy meal.

Ruth and Fawn were happily for married 62 years before his passing in 2013.

Ruth passed away peacefully with her children by her side on November 7, 2020 at Mountain View Hospital Payson, Utah. While her family will miss her deeply, they are comforted knowing that she and Fawn are together again. Oh what a reunion that must’ve been!

Ruth is survived by one son and two daughters: Terral—Buck (Lauri) Wall, Kaylee W. Bryant (Bill), Karen W. Christensen (Kent); three sisters: Juanita Hutchings, Myrlee VanAusdal, and Eileen Wall; 8 grandchildren and 23 great-grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her sweetheart, Fawn, her parents and four brothers: Allan, Carl, Norman, Lyle, as well as grandsons Colton Bryant, Tyler Wall, and a great-grandson, Jesse Zumbrennen.
