Sally Buttle

June 10, 1931 — October 18, 2021

Sally Jane Magleby Buttle passed from this life peacefully on Monday, October 18th, 2021 at her home where she was living with her daughter, Karie Cheney in Santaquin, Utah.

Sally was born in Provo, Utah on June 10, 1931 to Reed William Magleby and Dorothy Harmon and had one older brother, Richard Harmon Magleby (deceased).  She recently enjoyed a family celebration for her 90th birthday.  She met and married L. Gerald Buttle (deceased) in California while he was stationed with the Army and they faithfully reared eight children:  Geralynn (John) West, Wendy Sue (Charlie) Naselli, Kevin Gerald, Karie Ann (Ron) Cheney, Kirk Lester (Kelly), Shaleen (Joe) Wilding, Darrin David, deceased (Jenny), and Janalee (Malcolm) Wood.  Her family meant the world to her and she never hesitated to brag about her children, her 35 grandchildren (one deceased), 85 great-grandchildren (thus far), and so far, one great-great granddaughter.  Sally was proudly devoted to her family and her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.

Sally blessed her family with lessons of faith, industry, music, compassion and service.  There are hundreds of recipients who have been blessed by the charitable acts of service she provided.  She took an interest in all people and used her talent of sewing to refurbish and dress hundreds of dolls for needy children as well as giving away hundreds of handmade quilts.  She also taught women breadmaking and homemaking skills, was continuously seeking to improve her knowledge of scripture and spiritual  messages and loved being in the Holy Temple whenever she was able.  Though she would be the first to admit that “no one is perfect,” her children indeed “call her blessed” as she demonstrated her “exalted determination” of self-improvement, caring and nurturing.

She will be interred in the American Fork Cemetery on Friday, October 22nd.  A family Celebration of her life will be held in person and virtually at 4:00 on Sunday afternoon, October 24th.
